Our Christmas Adventures

We decided we love going to Rexburg to visit my family because it is so much fun and there is always soooo much to do! It's great! We didn't watch TV, any movies or anything else of that nature. (Okay, on Sat. night Jacob and Mat watched the new Warren Miller movie (Playground) we got Mat for Christmas, but that's hardly a movie!) We arrived kind of late on Tuesday night, and basically chit chatted for a few minutes and went to bed. On Wednesday, Christmas Eve we had a bunch of fun! Jacob and Mat disappeared for a few hours and rode the 4-wheelers. Mat got stuck a few times (there is was so much snow there!) and Jacob tipped his!! Anyone who has seen our beastly 4-wheelers knows this isn't an easy task. Luckily neither him nor the ATV was hurt. Jerry, Aley, and Julie all came over on Chirstmas Eve and participated in our little Christmas program with us and that was a bunch of fun. Christmas morning was typical.. open presents, eat breakfast... And we got to talk to Ty on the phone!!!!! The 40 minutes went by way too fast, and I can't wait until Mother's Day to talk to him again.

Little Sammie asleep Christmas morning on the chair surrounded by presents.

Then we played Life that Ang and Michael got for Christmas from his parents. Then Jerry Aley and Julie came over again and we decided to go sledding.
Anyone who was around Rexburg on Christmas day can probably remember the snow storm that was going on allll day long. Ha, mother nature couldn't daunt us. We set off on the unplowed roads for the dunes -obviously the best place to sled- Michael, Ang, Jerry, Aley, Julie and sleds were all in the tahoe and me, Jacob and Mat were all in the civic, which is actually a pretty decent car in the snow because of the snow tires. Grandma and Grandpa stayed home to babysit. About halfway to the dunes, the snow got so deep that the civic started acting as snow-plow and we had a constant stream of snow flying up into the windshield. Then finally and inevitably we got stuck. The civic was unable to keep plowing and high centered. Jerry and Michael ran back to us from the tahoe and got us unstuck and pushed us to the side of the road and we crammed into the tahoe and were on our way again! Right before reaching the place we like to sled it became impossible to see where the edge of the road was so we got out and treked the rest of the way. We stayed there for an hour or 2 and sledded and had an all-out snow ball war, very fun!

This is Angela and Michael sledding.

When we got back to pick up the Civic, it took us a few times to realize that every time we stopped to get the boys back in the car we got stuck again. Soo.. I leaned over and pushed the gas pedal with my hand and Mat, Jacob and Jerry all pushed the car until it was going nicely again, then Jerry ran back to the tahoe and Mat and Jacob hurry and jumped in the civic while it was still in motion! We went back to my parents house and enjoyed our Christmas dinner then lounged around and played Catch Phrase... oh my gosh did we have fun playing that game!! WE played for hours and it was funny because it was getting so late but none of us wanted to stop! very fun group to play with. Jerry and my dad were soooo into it. Finally the boys took off downstairs and us girls stayed up and talked for forever.
Friday was again, a bunch of fun. The boys went shooting for awhile and us girls just took care of the babies and hung out. They got back and announced they were going to Dubois to visit Larsen Farms (some huge and famous farm???? Mike loves farms) so we sent Sammie with them so she could get some sleep and we took Landen with us and went out to lunch to celebrate my mom's birthday and then went shopping so I could spend my shopping money I got for Christmas. That evening I went to my annual girls Christmas party that my friends and I from high school have been doing every year since we were 15 or so. It was great to see everyone and catch up! About 1/2 to 2/3 or so of us are married now and Sara and I both have babies... it's so weird, we're getting old. The family played The Family Farm Game while I was gone, which was another game the Busselbergs got for Christmas and Mat won that one. On Saturday Mat, my dad, and Jacob and I all got up early and went skiing and snowboarding all day. Soooooooo fun! Jacob did really good this time, I was so proud of him!
It snowed allll day long while we were there!

Jacob doing soooo good!

Afterwards in the car waiting for my dad and Mat to come back

We got home around 5 to celebrate my mom's birthday with my grandma and Floyd, who came up and brought cake, then I crashed on the couch. Today we packed up, went to sacrament meeting with the family then came home. The roads were awful all through Idaho, but oh well. . All in all it was a great trip, there wasn't time for Jacob to go duck hunting with my dad and Mat like he wanted, but I guess there's always next time and it snowed about a foot and half while we were there!

2 month checkup!

Well, our little baby turns 2 months on Saturday, but with the blessing and the holidays we took her in today for her checkup. She is 10 pounds 4 ounces and 22 1/4 (man, I came out of the womb longer than she is now!!) inches long. She is in the 39th percentile for weight and the 47th percentile for height. So she's definitely gotten chubbier, but relatively speaking, she isn't as chubby as some :) Doctors say she looks great! She definitely hated getting her shots and was screaming so hard she could hardly breathe, haha! I had my first ingrown toenail (gross, I know!) and had to get it removed today. Ouch. No, big time ouch. Jacob got back a large sum for his textbooks so now we aren't going to be completely and utterly broke after Christmas (yay!), so that's good.
Happy happy news-- my really good friend from forever (since junior high) is in the hospital pushing out her baby!!! Yay!!! Haha, when she texted me this evening, I was surprised by how thouroughly happy I am for her! I seriously can hardly contain myself! I think it's because I went through it so recently and it is SUCH a neat neat experience, I am so excited for her! I can just remember all of the feelings and emotions I had when little Samantha came out... amazing. There is nothing like it. Anyway so happy day and Congratulations, Sara and Jason!!!!
And I am soooooo excited for tomorrow when the Winegardners get here (for the blessing), I'm excited because only Mom and Dad and Briana have seen her, so the rest of the fam gets to now! And she is the first grandchild/ niece or nephew on that side, so that makes it even more exciting. It will be fun to see everyone gush over her, haha!
Oh, and because of some complications that came up (random spontaneous stake sacrament meeting this week) we have to bless her at our home. So that will be at 3 for those of you who read this and are coming :) Interesting. I've never been to a baby blessing at a house before, but apparently it's just fine.
AND--- I got my haircut!! Talk about long overdue... sheesh. So I'm excited to have back my short hair that I love so much more than long! I have the best haircutter.. she is great! (Plus, the $11 price doesn't hurt!)
Well, in case I don't make another post before Christmas, Merry Christmas and everyone travel safely!!!

It's been awhile..

So it's been awhile since I last posted. Oops. I was waiting on pictures from Thanksgiving, and I still don't have them, so maybe I'll add a few from then some other time. Thanksgiving was so much fun, we went to my grandma's house in Preston. My family was there and so was my sister and her family. Thanksgiving was, of course, delicious. We also went to Best Buy to pick up a few things on Black Friday at 5 in the morning.

I don't have very much to write about, not a whole lot of excitement in our lives. Sammie is so much more aware of things now, she gets excited when it's time to eat, and she has also been grinning at us a lot more.

So, in our apartment we have a fireplace- our landlords told us not to use it, but Jacob decided he wanted to get it to work... so he climbed up on the roof and got it so that the smoke would go outside (rather than in the house where it was going). So we had a fire going for a little while and it wasn't getting any warmer so we decided to let it die down. It started smoking more, and smoke started pouring into our living room. We ended up opening the window and door and turning on our fan to let it air out. Then this morning when I was doing my workout my lungs started burning really badly and it still stunk of smoke so I decided it needed more airing out. Soo Sammie and I spent the day in our bedroom where we kept it nice and warm and out in the kitchen/ living room we had the window open with the fan in it all day long and it was FREEZING. So thats been our excitement.

I'm getting so excited for Christmas (especially now that it's finally snowed!!) and Samantha's blessing. We are blessing her on the 21, and Jacob's family is going to come the Thursday before and stay until Monday (when my family is coming is still undecided) and then we are leaving the following evening to go to my parents house for Christmas! Yay! Hopefully there is enough snow to go snowboarding, because we really want to go a couple of times while we are there!

For those of you who are jealous of the amount of hair Samantha has.....

Well, last night Jacob and I were in the kitchen making cookies and Sammy was laying down in the living room looking at some stuff we put up for her to look at. She started crying and we looked over and I was just like 'why on earth is she crying??' Jacob noticed her hand up by her head jerking around. We went over there and she had grasped her hair in her hand and was trying to move her hand away and was pulling her own hair!! We felt so bad for her but could barely control our laughter long enough to free her hand from her hair! We would have taken a picture, but that would have been mean to leave her there any longer....

Money CAN buy happiness!!

Here it is! The happiness that is definitely costly! Sammy is happy, which means mommy is happy, which means daddy is happy! We found the cure for Samantha's fussiness. We got some of this in the mail for free and decided to try it and see if it made any difference (it's for babies that are fussy because of painful gas or colicky or whatever) and it did!! It has been sooo nice to have our happy playful baby back! She is such a sweetheart and we love her so much!

This is one of Samantha's outfits that sort of fits her. Jacob and I went to a hockey game in Salt Lake on Friday night and dressed her up nice and warm for it. I love this outfit, I think it is so adorable! (Thanks Helen from Ridgecrest!)

1 month!!

That's right.. Today our beautiful baby girl is one month old! It's so crazy how time flies! It really doesn't seem like that much time has passed! And she is still so little! (Between 8 1/2 and 9 pounds) Some babies are born that big! I guess she was early though :) Anyway life is going good, Samantha is doing much better about sleeping at night for the most part. She is interacting quite a bit more now, too. Meaning she'll make eye contact...haha. Lately we've been doing tummy time and she has been pretty good about it, a week ago she was able to do what they say your baby should be doing around 1 month which is lift her head up and turn it from one side to the other. She doesn't seem to enjoy being on her tummy all that much, she usually lasts about 3-6 minutes before she starts crying. Today I got out one of her colorful rattles and kinda waved it for her and she really liked it and responded well.
She is Finally starting to fit into a few of her 0-3 months sized clothes (well sorta, they're still big), so I've had fun dressing her up :) I'll post some pictures when I get more time. She has been kind of a pill lately, crying a lot and she only poops every few days. I've called the doctor but they say not to worry about it... I guess I won't, but I miss my happy baby and am sooo tired!!
Today Sammy gave us a really great little present!! Jacob was holding her when he got home so I could get a few things done (she is seriously that high maintenance right now with the crying, I have to hold her ALLLL day) anyway I walked over at just the right moment.. she turned her head and gave her first real, non-gas smile!!! Her eyes were just shining and she looked so happy, it was great! Hopefully they keep coming!
On a sadder note, my very favorite aunt passed away this last weekend and so Jacob and I are going to her funeral this Saturday. It happened pretty suddenly, she had even been to work earlier during the day and she just collapsed that night and went into a coma then died a couple days later. My Aunt Myrna was a wonderful woman, so spunky, vibrant, and funny! She is everyone's favorite aunt/grandma etc. Thankfully Jacob was able to get work off so he will be coming with me, which will be great for when Samantha gets all fussy. It will be good to see all of the family I haven't seen in ages (and of course show off my beautiful new baby). I always marvel that it's at funerals that I see my long lost cousins, sad that that's what it takes to bring families together but oh well.
We are also still looking for a new apartment (but very fruitlessly) we've looked at a bunch of places and check the BYU website, Daily Universe, and Daily Herald regularly but to no avail. And everywhere we do go to look at has about 15 people looking at it that day, so that doesn't really help things, either.. So if any of you wardies hear about any openings in the ward let us know-- we'd LOVE to stay in the ward!
Anyway more pictures to come soon!

zits!

Well life has been going good, Samantha has developed her baby acne finally. She only had about 3 little "zits" until yesterday morning when she had about 15 more and this morning when she had about 20 more than that! Yesterday morning I had a pleasant surprise, Jacob came in and got me up at 7, and brought me out to the kitchen where he had made a delicious breakfast of biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs!!! (Well, the gravy was pre-made from when my dad was here, but still!) He had woken up early to finish some homework and got done faster than he anticipated, and instead of sleeping for another half hour he made me breakfast! What a sweetheart! We also made a new discovery with Samantha-- she loooves pacifiers. They definitely pacify her(haha..) we slept better last night than we have since she's been out of the womb! It was great!

It's been awhile...

Well Sammy is finally asleep so I thought I'd update since it's been awhile! We've been super busy- Jacob's parents were in town for a week to see their granddaughter and help out and just left yesterday. It was so great to have them here to help out, but today has been pleasantly quiet. Sammy is our little sweetheart, she is so much fun. She really only cries when she is hungry or 'straining' really hard, haha. I need to take some updated pictures because she has finally started plumping up and her cheeks are all chubby now! Oh and the doctor thought she might have a little bit of thrush, so her mouth is purple because the medicine is basically purple ink, so she is a cutie right now :) And she is getting her days and nights a little bit more straight which is nice. Jacob and I are about the same, he is plugging away at work and school and is still the best husband and father ever! We're currently trying to find a new place to move to, and might have found a great place- we're going to look at it tonight and see how it is. If we end up getting it, we'll have to move wards again which will be SO sad, since I love the ward we're in right now- everyone is so great and I love my calling and visiting teachees and teachers and other great people in the ward. But we'll see how it goes. Plus, we'll probably have to talk again as the new people. ugh. I really don't mind public speaking, except in church! Anyway more pictures to come soon!

More fun!

Samantha and Daddy asleep.
Samantha and Daddy asleep.

Feed Me!!
I'm Hungry!

Well I guess I'll finally write something on here again... Life has been fun with little Samantha, she is such a sweetheart! She's a pretty good baby, calms herself down pretty well and does a lot of the normal eating, pooping, and sleeping. She is so funny and pulls silly faces all the time, and her little "gas" smiles are a ton of fun! Life has been good, but very tiresome. My mom has been here the last few days, just helping out, which has been good so that I can take small naps during the day and help my body recover. Poor Jacob is so busy with work and school, he doesn't get the luxury of napping. Jacob is so cute with her, he loves cuddling with her and is always willing to change her diapers or do whatever is needed to help me out. I'm happy to say, my itching has finally completely stopped- it took a few days after I had her to go away, but now it's completely gone! She is still tiny, and has nothing that fits her, but that's okay. I got out for the first time since I had her today for about an hour (she was in the good hands of grandma and grandpa) to run to Wal-mart and get a few things. While I was there I picked her up another newborn sized outfit/sleeper since she only has about 4 things she can wear (none of which fit, but are a little bit smaller) and I love it because it says "Mommy's Girl" on it, and she has tons of outfits that say things like "Daddy's Girl" or "Daddy's princess" etc etc. Anyway that's our life, I got tagged just before I had her, so another post to come soon!

Finally Home

The hospital released Nicole and Samantha today at about 11:15 am. I went to school and work and then came home. Our little girl is so adorable! She has a time for about an hour a day when she is wide awake and looking around at everything. It is really cute :) Nicole is really sore, but on the mend and doing well. She is going to be a terrific mom! I love watching her take care of Samantha.
