I feel vain, because this post is going to be dedicated to my hair. Honestly, I wouldn't post this, but I've had a lot of requests to see my haircut-- I cut off about 8-9 inches!!!! Woo! AND, prior to the cut... It was the longest it has been in my ENTIRE life!!! anyway here is before....

And here is the after.. Waaay short! When I go short I don't usually go this short, so I'm excited for it to grow about an inch, but for now I'm loving it! (sorry for the low quality- phone pic)

Today this word was said to me, and once again, my frustration toward the word flared. (don't worry Hil, no frustration directed at you :)) SO, about 4 years ago I went to the doctor and found out that I had -that word-. The doctor said to me (or so I heard) "You have a stigmatism." cool. I went about my day whatever. Months later I discovered it wasn't "a stigmatism" but rather, "astigmatism". This is where I feel extremely frustrated. I'm not an English major, but I'm not dumb, I passed 3rd grade english! If a word begins with a vowel you say "an" rather than "a".. so shouldn't the doctor have said "you have an astigmatism"? And I have seen commercials on TV where they distinctly refer to it without saying "an". So now my question is this: Is everyone else wrong and it should be pronounced "an astigmatism" or does it have a silent "a" kind of like 'oppossum' has a silent "o" OR is it a proper noun and Astigmatism, not astigmatism? If I am going to say it different than everyone else (an astigmatism) then I want to know I'm right so I can say it with confidence and not care when I get funny looks! Someone please tell me the right way to use this word!

Edit (from awhile after I wrote this): I may have figured it out.. is it kind of like a disease or illness? Like saying you have strep throat. Because you wouldn't say you have a strep throat. That MUST be it. Am I right? Someone with English knowledge please tell me.

Hair cut!!

So, I have been Longing to cut my hair for awhile now.... and I'm just going to chop it all off! I've tried long hair, and every time I try.. well, it's just all pretty, and boring on me. Which, I like to think I'm neither. Plus, it makes my already extra long face look even more extra long! So it's going to be GONE.

Problem: I have yet to like any haircut I have received since living in UT valley, so PLEASE: suggestions!!!!!!!!

I decided to review some books I've read and movies I've seen lately!

Ahhh the Hunger Games series.... Incredibly gripping books. Lots of action and adventure-- but not the blow up kind that seems more what guys like; it has the type of action for ALL audiences- with a small love story on the side! This author is AMAZING. They easily make top 5 fiction books I have EVER read!

The Lovely Bones... People are going to think I'm crazy for this review, I know it. I was recommended this book multiple times, so put it on hold at the library. A few weeks later I saw a trailer for it at the movie theater, and was super excited! A few weeks after that, it came in for me at the library and I was able to check it out. All I have to say is that there is No possible way that the movie could be any worse than the book! I LOVE reading and have always believed the book had to be better than the movie, until now. I have yet to see the movie, but the book was incredibly boring. The first 40-50 pages were wonderful, I was thrown into the story and cried and mourned and was completely fascinated! (I will give it this: the book was extremely interesting..yet dull. Like a science text book.) After the first part of the book, it rapidly became duller and duller. The plot begged to go somewhere, so I kept reading thinking it would go... but it never did! It was frustrating to read and the ending was "oh how sweet" but it didn't feel like she ever gave the book a decent finish.
Now, I know this book is incredibly popular, this is simply my opinion, I'm not asking you to agree with it. :)

Star Trek...
WELLLL I have always prided myself on being a Star Trek virgin. Never seen an episode or watched a movie or anything! I always thought Star Trek was geeky, and really was proud of myself! On Monday Jacob had me watch this movie with him. It was good, not great. There was some cool action, but it seemed like just another action movie to me, same old same old. Nothing fresh or exciting, but still good.

The blind side is sooo good! A good, heart-warming story that makes you laugh and cry. Definitely an uplifting feel-good movie! Go see it!

Hmmm. I have been debating whether I even wanted to review this one... I think I have decided no. I will say this: It was AMAZING. Amazing graphics, fresh ideas, a bit profound, awesome action, a good story line to go with it, but I cannot in good conscience recommend it to others. I don't want to point it out, in case some of you are going to see it (it wasn't incredibly obvious) and I'm sure some who have seen it have no clue what I'm talking about, whereas others probably know exactly what it is. Anyway if you want more info you can come talk to me about it.

New Years!

Because of how New Year's fell we were able to go visit my family without Jacob missing any work! (Although he did end up having to miss his half day on Thursday because my dear sweet grandma passed away on the 26 and her funeral was that morning) So we had a bunch of fun at my parents house, but we didn't take any pictures unfortunately :(
Here is a picture of Jacob and his 2 1/2 week beard he grew out over the break. It was longer than it looks in this picture
Anyway I know I'm a few days late, and I haven't begun these yet but I have a few New Year's Resolutions that I am making for this year and starting Today!
1- Keep up being healthy and exercising regularly
I've been doing well at this, and would like to keep it up and not waste all my hard work.
2- Read scriptures personally every day
Jacob and I are really good about reading together, but sometimes I forget to do it on my own.. oops!
3- Write in my "Tender Mercies" journal at least 4 times/ week
this one I am really excited about, especially lately as I have been thinking about it, I have really loved being able to see more and more the Lord's hand in my life as well as in others. We are all so very blessed!

Welllll Christmas has come and gone, unfortunately. I love the Christmas season; I love how happy everyone is and how giving and loving- people are truly more Christ-like during the Christmas season! Jacob and I spent 9 wonderful days in California this year and it was soo fun! The weather was nice and warm (I'm still not used to the warmth at Christmas, but still very pleasant.) We went to Death Valley one of the days and went sandboarding.. Samantha had soooo much fun pushing herself down the dune (see video) and would scream like crazy if we tried to make her stay on top!.....Looks like once again I was too focused on Samantha to get any pictures of anyone else, but here are some of her and the video.
Look how far away she would get! She didn't even care that mom and dad were so far away.

We had a lot of fun and crazy times.....

I honestly feel that I don't owe an explanation for these pictures, haha
Ariel and her boyfriend Don- so cute!
Samantha on Christmas morning with one of her favorite presents.. yogurt melts!
We were spoiled with many really nice presents, and we had such an amazing time! Thanks for making it such a great Christmas!!
